COVID-PERU FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Is the Inca Trail currently open?
We are thrilled to share that tourism has returned to Cusco, and we're excited to be hiking to Machu Picchu once more. Starting July 15, 2021, with the government reopening the Inca Trail to tourists, we will be offering all of our routes again. Although the government has reduced the number of permits for the 4, 5, and 7-day Inca Trail treks, there are still available spots for the remainder of 2022. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to our beautiful country.
Can I go on the trek if I’m feeling unwell?
If you experience any symptoms related to COVID-19 or physical discomfort, you are not permitted to go on the trek. Entry will be denied to individuals with a body temperature above 38°C. Please reach out to us to reschedule your trek.
How can I reserve my desired dates for the Inca Trail tour?
Reservations are now open for all Inca Trail treks in 2022. Select the most suitable date according to your schedule. However, we recommend booking as soon as possible, especially for peak season dates, since permits for the Inca Trail tend to sell out quickly once they become available. This trend has been evident even in 2021 with the new travel protocols in Peru.
We will regularly update this page with any new travel information from the Peruvian government as it becomes available.
The Peruvian government has imposed curfews that may vary based on the risk level in each region. Check the permitted transit hours here.
